Grado History

The Grado Laboratory turntable can be traced to audio pioneer Joseph Grado, who in 1955 founded Grado Laboratories.

In 1960, after producing a successful series of phono cartridges, Grado expanded his product line to turntables, tonearms, and speakers. These additional products, although well built and well engineered, did not prove to be cost-effective.

Turntable production ceased in 1963, with Grado directing his efforts towards producing phono cartridges and tonearms. The total number of turntables produced is estimated to be between 5000 and 7000.
